- ➤ The Old State House Museum is celebrating its 75th anniversary tomorrow, Feb. 14. The museum opened in 1951 and will host special events that highlight Arkansas history + culture. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Little Rock’s former high school for Black students (operating from 1929 to 1955) has been added to the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing its important role in the community’s educational past. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A local study shows the cost of a Valentine’s celebration has risen 51% over the past decade, with chocolates rising 236% and dinner costs up 160%. However, at Tipton and Hurst — a local floral staple — rose prices increased about 20 to 25% due to direct buying from growers. ABC 7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Arkansas is set to install new weather stations across the state to boost data collection and improve forecasts for local residents. The installation is expected to help detect changing conditions and guide planning efforts. THV 11
- ➤ University of Arkansas at Little Rock received a $1.2 million gift from Leslye Shellam to restore its long-closed planetarium — which will be renamed the Shellam Flake Planetarium and open Fall 2026. - ➤ APCSI will vote on Feb. 19 on a proposal to close the Maumelle Scott Charter School campus due to declining enrollment and nearly $700,000 deficit. If closed, students will be bused to Maumelle campuses, affecting a tight-knit community. ABC 7
