BUSINESS NEWS

  • Arkansas TV, formerly Arkansas PBS, left PBS on Tuesday amid federal funding cuts and now plans to broadcast more local programs like Blueberry’s Clubhouse + cheaper licensed content to extend its runway. CEO Carlton Wing explained the change at a Little Rock Rotary Club meeting.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Uniti Wholesale will expand its fiber network by 1,100 miles under a $500 million contract to boost AI data transfers from Dallas to fast-growing markets including Memphis, Little Rock and Amarillo. The first phase will complete 337 miles from Tulsa to Little Rock and 145 miles to Memphis by month’s end.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lawmakers approved $32 million for Education Freedom Accounts last Tuesday to support private schooling and homeschooling options for the 2025-26 school year and added $2.4 million from a Walton Family Foundation Grant to help address teacher shortages. Officials said the funding builds on earlier support to expand educational choice and recruitment.  THV 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Little Rock's Board of Directors authorized a memorandum of understanding with New + Found, a St. Louis-based firm, to revamp Ottenheimer Market Hall in the River Market District. The multimillion-dollar project will add food stalls, restaurants and event spaces, and will take 31 months from predevelopment to the grand opening.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Capitol Arts and Grounds Commission reopens design submissions for the Monument to the Unborn at the state Capitol to create a place of prayer for families. Proposals must be sent via email within 60 days + officials confirmed the decision after the previous design was disqualified.  ABC 7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Central Arkansas nurses can access support through The Nurses Lounge, a group offering social meetups and educational resources to help reduce burnout. The organization welcomes nurses at all career stages and has grown to serve over 1,200 members.  ABC 7

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mills beat Little Rock Hall 63-55 Tuesday night at Raymond A. Cooper Arena after a late second-quarter surge set the stage for a regulation win. Key players helped deliver the team a strong performance in an evenly matched contest.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Little Rock Parkview Patriots beat Little Rock Christian Tuesday night at Charles Ripley Arena with a score of 78-43—thanks to strong defense that forced 20 turnovers. Jacob Lanier led the team with 30 points as they improved from last season.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
