  • One person died and several were hospitalized after a fire at the Midtown Park Apartments in Little Rock, prompting the American Red Cross to open a shelter for displaced residents.  THV 11

CRIME NEWS

  • Three people were injured, two critically, in a Little Rock shooting on Colonel Glenn Road, with police investigating but no suspects named.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Little Rock Police Department identified victims and a person of interest from a New Year's Day shooting resulting in two injuries and one fatality.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Mayor Terry Hartwick was inaugurated for his third term as Mayor of North Little Rock in an unopposed 2024 election, marking continued leadership since his return to office in 2020.  ABC 7
  • Phones at the Pulaski County Courthouse and Prosecutor's Building are down due to a damaged fiber optic line, with no current estimate for restoration.  ABC 7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Arkansas sees a significant increase in influenza, with over 300 cases reported last week, leading to more than 100 hospitalizations and 7 deaths since late September.  ABC 7
